[Miami, FL] The Hispanic Leadership Conference held its annual meeting in Miami this week, and former President Donald Trump delivered its keynote address. The meeting was organized together with the America First Policy Institute, a new think tank started in 2021 and composed of mostly Trump administration officials staying ready for their restoration in 2025: Linda McMahon, former CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment and director of the Small Business Administration; Brooke Rollins, White House domestic policy advisor and former director of the Texas Public Policy Foundation; Pam Bondi, former Attorney General of the Free State of Florida; and Chad Wolf, Secretary of Homeland Security.
Bob Unanue, CEO of Goya Foods, the largest Hispanic-owned business in America, introduced President Trump and warmed up the crowd. He pointed out that people from all over the world have volunteered to come to America in order to work under God and in freedom, and Hispanics are a big part of that migration. Freedom means the absence of government censorship, including not only by the FBI, the DOJ and the IRS, but also by Big Tech. America now has the world’s second largest Hispanic population, after Mexico, and Hispanics constitute approximately 18% of its population. Hispanics are highly entrepreneurial, starting businesses at a higher rate than any other ethnic group in America.
Hispanics believe not only in hard work and private enterprise, but also in God, family and country. This was the slogan used by Mayra Flores, the first Mexican immigrant elected to Congress, to win earlier this year in South Texas. Ronald Reagan believed that Hispanics are natural conservatives, and we are, but it took the spark of a political disruptor like President Trump to start making the transition. He won the vote in South Texas during the 2020 election, and cut his deficit among Hispanics in South Florida so that he could win the state by 3%. This year the Democrat lead over Republicans in Congressional preference has been cut in half from around 40% in 2018 to around 20% today.
President Trump pointed out that instead of being a foreign influence, Hispanics have emerged as a group that seeks to preserve the traditional American values that we voluntarily came here to enjoy. The mainstream media missed the shift by Hispanic voters in a conservative direction, because they do not understand that Hispanics love America, and are happy that they could flee here after their native countries let them down. Trump observed that Hispanic immigrants attend churches, start businesses, serve in the military and among first responders, do not want to defund the police or reimagine law enforcement, build cities, support lawful immigration and the rule of law, reject woke racist and gender ideologies, and overall are a blessing to our nation.
President Trump also warned that the Brandon administration has empowered totalitarian socialist governments in Latin America, especially abandoning the people of Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua. These governments need to be kept under maximum pressure, but instead the Brandon administration has reached out to Venezuela for petroleum production. Also, last Saturday Trump delivered an online endorsement of President Bolsonaro, the nationalist conservative in Brazil running for re-election the next day against a crooked socialist (another Andrew Gillum, but without the sex and drugs, just booze), in the only remaining big country in the region that has not gone socialist.
President Trump urged all to support election integrity, including: voter ID; U.S. citizenship checks; paper ballots, counted by hand; and all voting on one election day, without early voting. If the French can hand-count 36 million ballots in one day, then so can Americans.
President Trump delivered his hour-long speech in Miami starting around 4:30 pm on Wednesday this week, at around the same time that President Brandon and Governor DeSantis were holding a joint press conference in the Gulf Coast of Florida on the hurricane response. DeSantis looked very presidential while sharing Brandon’s podium at the press conference. Surely that timing was not a coincidence. Surely he wanted to stomp on their show, one an outright enemy and the other a frenemy, because Trump is running for re-election in 2024 against all opponents, Democrat and Republican.
