Patriots Perspective, a division of Discern Media Group, is committed to publishing journalism that is accurate, fair, transparent, and accountable.
Even with careful reporting and editorial review, mistakes may occur. When they do, we believe they should be addressed promptly, transparently, and proportionately.
This policy explains how we review and respond to reports of factual errors while preserving the integrity and historical accuracy of our published work.
Our corrections process is guided by the following principles:
Accuracy
Transparency
Accountability
Fairness
Consistency
Editorial independence
Corrections are intended to improve the factual accuracy of our reporting—not to suppress lawful reporting or alter the historical record.
We welcome requests to review potential factual inaccuracies, including but not limited to:
Incorrect names
Incorrect dates
Incorrect locations
Misidentified individuals
Errors in quotations
Errors regarding public records
Incorrect descriptions of court proceedings
Incorrect references to legislation
Mathematical or statistical errors
Incorrect attribution of statements
Mischaracterization of publicly available documents
Requests that simply disagree with an editorial opinion, interpretation, analysis, or viewpoint generally do not warrant a correction unless they identify a verifiable factual error.
The following ordinarily do not require formal correction:
Differences of opinion
Political disagreement
Editorial viewpoints
Commentary
Predictions that later prove inaccurate
New information that was unavailable at the time of publication
Changes in circumstances occurring after publication
Typographical errors that do not materially affect meaning
Patriots Perspective retains discretion in determining whether an update or correction is appropriate.
Each correction request is reviewed independently by the editorial team.
When evaluating a request, we may consider:
Original reporting materials
Published sources
Public records
Court filings
Audio or video recordings
Documentary evidence
Statements from the reporter
Information submitted by the requesting party
Additional reporting conducted after publication
Submitting a correction request does not guarantee that a correction will be issued.
Depending on the circumstances, Patriots Perspective may use one or more of the following approaches.
A correction is issued when a material factual error has been confirmed.
Corrections should clearly identify the corrected information without obscuring the original reporting history.
A clarification may be issued when published language could reasonably be misunderstood or when additional context improves reader understanding without changing the underlying facts.
Articles may be updated when:
New facts become available.
Official statements are released.
Court proceedings continue.
Government agencies publish additional information.
Investigations develop.
Updates are a normal part of responsible journalism and do not necessarily indicate that prior reporting was inaccurate.
An Editor’s Note may be added to explain:
Significant revisions
Ongoing developments
Important contextual information
Reporting methodology
Subsequent legal or factual developments
Editor’s Notes provide transparency while preserving the historical integrity of published reporting.
Retractions are reserved for exceptional circumstances, including situations where published reporting contains material inaccuracies that cannot reasonably be corrected through updates or clarifications.
Retractions are uncommon and are considered only after careful editorial review.
News often develops after publication.
As investigations progress or additional information becomes available, Patriots Perspective may revise articles to include:
Newly confirmed facts
Official statements
Court rulings
Government reports
Additional interviews
Documentary evidence
Readers should understand that updates are a routine feature of responsible journalism.
Patriots Perspective generally does not erase previously published reporting simply because circumstances later change.
Instead, when appropriate, we may:
Update articles
Add Editor’s Notes
Add correction notices
Publish follow-up reporting
Link to subsequent developments
Maintaining an accurate historical record promotes transparency and public understanding.
Readers who believe an article contains a material factual error are encouraged to submit:
The article URL
The headline
The specific statement believed to be incorrect
A detailed explanation
Supporting documentation or publicly available sources, if available
Requests should focus on factual accuracy rather than disagreement with editorial viewpoints.
Patriots Perspective distinguishes between:
Correction requests
Requests for comment
Legal correspondence
Demands for retraction
Litigation-related communications
The receipt of legal correspondence does not automatically result in modification or removal of published content.
Legal matters are reviewed independently and in accordance with applicable law and our editorial standards.
Opinion, commentary, editorials, and analysis are protected forms of expression and are intended to communicate viewpoints.
Corrections to opinion pieces are generally limited to verifiable factual assertions rather than the author’s opinions or conclusions.
Corrections involving guest contributors, interviews, or externally supplied materials are reviewed under the same editorial standards.
Where appropriate, Patriots Perspective may contact the original contributor before making significant revisions.
Where artificial intelligence tools assist with editorial workflows, all factual verification remains the responsibility of human editors.
AI-generated content does not bypass our corrections process.
Whenever reasonably practicable, significant corrections will be identified in a manner that informs readers that changes have been made.
Transparency strengthens confidence in responsible journalism.
Patriots Perspective retains sole editorial discretion regarding:
Whether a correction is warranted
The form of any correction
Placement of correction notices
Timing of updates
Publication of follow-up reporting
Whether an Editor’s Note or clarification is more appropriate than a correction
Our objective is to improve factual accuracy while preserving editorial integrity.
